Your blog is awesome and I’m enjoying reading what you post, but I’m curious – why do you offer rebuttals to comments like ‘Otherkin is a mental illness’ and so on so often? It seems like tiring and thankless work, and kinda like trying to mop up an ocean with a tissue. Wouldn’t it be wiser to just let them be wrong elsewhere?
Thank you!
Those comments are just what I see most often. I just kind of respond to what I think I can work with. Plus, if we can’t get past the idea that “otherkin is a mental illness” then we can’t get any further in helping understand what exactly we are. It doesn’t hurt to try, at the very least. :3
I don’t know about letting them be wrong elsewhere being wiser… I don’t think there’s any way to be wise about Internet discourse in the first place, to be honest (haha self burn).
What matters to me is that I have changed people’s minds, even if it doesn’t look like it from the surface. I’ve helped some people come to a better understanding of otherkin, and I think that’s important.
Thanks for sending this in! I appreciate it. : )
