is it bad to lean heavily on your source or to assume it’s right until you know better because you don’t remember anything? is it grounds to question your own legitimacy?

In the absence of having kin memories (including the simple ‘that feels right/that feels wrong’ kind), there’s no reason to assume it went differently. Sometimes they way it was shown is the way it went.
