Actually
How is otherkin not “cultural appropriation”
If me not believing in “Two Spirit” because it’s bullshit is “racist”
Then how are you not being racist/stupid as well
Because otherkin comes from
Native Americans
I would like an explanation please

Since there’s no single, shared belief found throughout the otherkin and therian communities, there’s your answer–and also, otherkin as a group does not trace its history back to any of the Native American tribes.

So… Where did it come from? Did people make it up? Or has it been an “issue” for centuries?

The word “otherkin” itself was coined in 1990 by Darren Stalder on the Elfinkin Digest listserve. The otherkin community, on the other hand, dates back to mailing lists started in the 1960′s-1970′s, most notably The Queen’s Daughters, a group of Tolkien elfkin–however, the idea of a non-physical, non-human identity is arguably one that dates back centuries, especially in connection to spiritual/religious ideas with things such as reincarnation, past lives, souls, and gods/divine powers.
