I’m sure this is a really basic, fundamental question but I would appreciate your help in understanding. What happens when more than one person thinks that they are kin with a singular fictional character? Doesn’t this cause fights? Especially if they have different ideas about that character and their experiences?

I get asked this question a lot, its true, but I think that means its an important question.

When more than one person believes they are kin with the same character, usually nothing special happens. This is because of multiverse theory.  Most kin believe that there are infinite variations on each world and therefore an infinite number of the same character. If I’m Vriska, and you’re also Vriska, we’re obviously both Vriska, but from different timelines/worlds. 

The multiverse theory also takes care of the ‘problem’ of people with the same kinself having different memories- things simply happened different in different timelines.

On the other hand, recently on tumblr there has been a recent trend of some kin being… touchy… about doubles and not wanting to meet or interact with them. However, this is a fairly new development.
