A question for copingkin

This is for those who feel that their nonhuman identity is unconsciously created by their mind to cope with w/e. My question is, do you conider yourselves under the psychological branch of kinity?

I mean this like how reincarnation kin are under the spritiual umbrella. Since your kin identity stems from a mind related thing, do you think you are able to call yourself psychological kin? I’m really curious! I use some kintypes as coping identities, but none of them are entirely stemmed from a neurological coping thing.

I’m not 100% whether my identity is neurological or rooted in helping me with shit in my head. It’s probably a mix of both. But I absolutely identify as psychological kin, and actually don’t consider people who are kin for this reason to be copingkin*. Nothing about psychological kin says it has to be neurological. Just that it has to be unconscious/involuntary, whether it’s later consciously used to help or not.

Labelling everyone who uses kin identities to help them out in life as copingkin would probably end up with the term being functionally meaningless, since the majority of otherkin have likely used their identity that way a time or few.

*although ofc if they call themselves that then I’ll respect that as much as I can without causing confusion.

Yeah, I always got the impression that “copingkin” refers to kintypes who have been actively chosen as a coping mechanism rather than just kintypes who might be used to cope with life in some way or another. I’m sure many people use various aspects of their identity to help cope with life, including kintypes, but that doesn’t make them “copingkin”.
