How exactly does otherkin/fickin/any-kin work as a coping mechanism. I hear people say that disliking kins is ableist because of this. But then how do people feel about neurotypicals being kin with people?

If anyone has an answer let me know. Not looking to start shit, just typing this out because I feel like I should have these questions answered at some point.

Being kin isn’t some mental illness thing. There are, and have always been (as our communities are about 50 years old now) both neurotypical and mentally ill kin. It isn’t by itself a coping mechanism, and it’s only ever ableist to hate us if the person is using a known or perceived disability as justification. ex. “All otherkin are crazy ret*rds and should die.”
